The Perfect Shot: Steve S. Thrilling November Buck Hunt

November 11th, 2023, dawned cool with temp's in the low 40's and a slight drizzle in the air as Steve Schicker ventured into the woods of a family farm for what would turn out to be an unforgettable hunt. The Tactacam Reveal images from the previous night added an extra layer of anticipation to his hunt.

Shortly after sunrise, Steve spotted a young button buck emerging from an old apple orchard, marking the start of an exciting day filled with these young bucks. As the hours passed, a parade of button bucks entertained him, but it was around 3:00 PM that the real thrill began.crossbow deer hunting

A pair of twin button bucks appeared just southwest of Steve's treestand. He eagerly started filming their playful antics when his camera caught a glimpse of something even more exciting: a mature buck making its way towards him.

With his heart racing, Steve prepared his Centerpoint Wrath 430X, anticipating the perfect shot. The mature buck momentarily veered south, stopping to investigate a scrape. As it reappeared within range, Steve steadied his aim and released an arrow tipped with a CP Deadpoint broadhead. The “thump” of a solid hit echoed through the orchard, and the buck ran only 65 yards before collapsing on a tractor path.

Steve’s meticulous preparation and patience paid off, culminating in a spectacular and memorable hunt.
